Volkswagen Passat – One Thing
Ready Brek – Ready For Anything
Advert: WEETABIX READY BREK – READY FOR ANYTHING
Music: ANEI – IEVAN POLKKA
Flying books, giant fussball players and horses made out of foam letters? An ad designed to promote Ready Brek’s hallucinogenic properties, perhaps? The music is a version of Ievan Polkka specially recorded for the ad by Finnish singer Anei. It isn’t commercially available, but you can hear it on her MySpace page. The song is a Finnish folk song – the title means “Eva’s Polka”. A 1995 version recorded by the Finnish quartet Loituma became an internet hit after soundtracking a not-very-amusing flash animation called Loituma Girl, also known as Leek Spin, featuring, erm, a girl spinning a leek. If you are really, really bored you can see it here.

Fiat 500 – New Everyday Masterpieces
Advert: FIAT 500 – NEW EVERYDAY MASTERPIECES
Music: TIZIANO LAMBERTI – 21
This ad, and the very similar “Open Masterpieces” ad, which you can watch here, feature the music of Tiziano Lamberti, who sounds just as Italian as the car the ad is promoting. Indeed, a check of his MySpace page reveals he is from Torino. You can also listen to the full track there, as it is so far unavailable to purchase, unfortunately. This ad shouldn’t be confused with the earlier Fiat Masterpieces ads, which featured Cut Chemist.
