Don’t Stop The Rock by Freestyle is an old electro track from the mid 1980s. It’s been sampled and remixed various times, notably (and confusingly) by The Freestylers for Don’t Stop The Rock (Drop The Boom) in 1998. The ad was another from Cadbury’s ‘A Glass and a Half Full Productions’, following the gorilla playing drums and the airport trucks race. Cadbury’s reckon 35 percent of the British public can move their eyebrows independently, of whom 18 percent are ‘fully eyebrow ambidextrous’…

The ad sucks. The song rocks. The 80s are coming back.
Were there no cute kids to cast?

its an awesome ad

They don’t need to explain how good the chocolate is – it is the brand leader. This is not about introducing the product it is about brand reinforcement. So the ad aims to grab the attention then mention the product rather than talk about flavour. When did Coke last mention the flavour?
Funny as I find it that there’s such a kerfuffle over a song name…
It IS Freestyle’s Don’t Stop The Rock.
It’s on the Ultimate Breakdance album, which I both listen to and sell at HMV.
Still, it’s a darn stupid advert.
its hilarious that you all are arguing over a song title.
solution: type either titles into iTunes, and play both to see which one is right! haha
i love this advert
My father, me and my son have been always doing this eyebrow thing (can YOU do it ?! ha!) and we thing this ad is hilarious and the whole cinema (in London and Malta mind you) was in stiches.
You all sound so silly arguing about the song title, just enjoy the advert for what it is. This advert always puts a smile on my face.
paul t bang on.
this is beyond stupidity.this ad has spawned a whole generation of noobs that think the song was by the freestylers lololol.me and my freinds used to breakdance to this song in like 1985.ooh ooh let me get the ringtone now.
I dont care what the name of the song is, I think it is the most stupid of commercials……what is the point of watching two kids act like idiots. Why not tell all the good reasons to buy cadbury chocolate, I can think of many……….
sorry guys but freestylers is correct this tune has been remixed and edited so many times its rediculous, i guess everybody remembers theyre own first time of hearing it.
tsk.. kids today!
This is the ‘original’ Don’t Stop The Rock. I have the original 12″ from 1985
Pretty Tony is the guy behind the track to be honest. If you liked this track, hunt down ‘Jam The Box’; similar sounding but another classy piece of ‘proper’ electro.
For anybody that knows about real hip-hop, you will know this is Freestyle from circa 1985, not the damn Freestylers! The stole the track, they did NOT make it – learn your music history people pleeeeeeeez! Right, wheres my lino and my Sergio Tacchini tracksuit for some backspins!!!!!!!
the thing they do do to make all these up what goes on in that advert office????
DON’T STOP THE BEAT AND DROP THE BOOM, ARE BOTH KICK ASS TRACKS!…
Yep, its freestyle, dont stop the rock circa 1986.
Confirmed.
Never thought i’d hear this again let alone in a choc bar advert..
Hehehe….
fort it was drop the bomb me ..?
Paul’s right guys, I used to breakdance to this tune back in the mid 80′s!
Sorry Nicki, it is not.
To clarify: The track used in the ad is Don’t Stop The Rock by Freestyle, which is an old electro track from around 1986.
This track was much later sampled / remixed by The Freestylers for Don’t Stop The Rock (Drop The Boom) around 1998. This track is slightly faster and more bass-heavy.
Although the tracks sound similar, they are not the same!
If you’d like to compare the two songs, listen to the sound clips here.
Actually, it is Drop the Boom by the Freestylers from the We Rock Hard album, i’m listening to it now!
just to let you know you have the song title wrong… it is not don’t stop as you have put… however it is the freestylers but the track is called “drop the boom” .. i know this because i am a massive freestylers fan and it is on the we rock hard album which i have. anyway there you go.
cheers
Sorry Jay, the track IS “Don’t Stop The Rock”, by Freestyle (not Freestylers). Watch the video and then listen to the MP3 and they’ll confirm this.
