There are two UK versions of this ad (and several international versions), which show a work of art created using a BMW car as a paintbrush by artist Robin Rhode. The first UK version is an instrumental:

The BMW Marketing Department states that the track was specially written in-house and is untitled. Despite information to the contrary elsewhere, we can confirm that this track was NOT composed by Nico Muhly. This behind the scenes video DOES feature a track by Nico Muhly called Pillaging Music, which can be downloaded via Amazon.

There is also a second UK ad. The track in this ad features vocals:

This track was specially created for the advertisement by the Novo Sonic sound agency in Germany. You can see more about Novo Sonic (in German) and view the ad here. According to the German website Soundlicious, “Thomas Hoffmann aka Leon Rodt acted for the sound agency Novo Sonic as co-writer and co-producer of the music.”

To confuse matters, there is apparently an Australian version of the ad which features the music of Empire of the Sun.

The song you are referring to comes from a version of the ad. They are both UK ads. One is instrumental the other has words, something along these lines.

It claims to be Nico Muhly as well, but I’m suspicious that someone has just cut and paste that from another site. It doesn’t seem to be like Nico’s.

Hey, have been searching hard for this song to and came across the following: “According to the official statement from the BMW Marketing Department, is that the song is untitled and was written by the Marketing Department specifically for the advertisement. Unfortunately, there seems to be no plans to release it as a single.”

Its not the same song, but this is very similar, I was trying to look for the Headman Remix of this as its even closer to what the ad sounds like…

Wonderful song! I hope the people at BMW will change their minds and release this great song! Just watch Gabriella Cilmis song for the Rexona commercial. It became a huge hit!

And I think the lyrics are as follows:

I love the BMW tune, short dancy version with lyrics. I shazam’d too with no sucess. Bmw should get this released as itwould be massive and easy advertising for them. ‘as featured on z4 advert’ we needthis out there maybe if we get a big name dj on the case too. Everyone email in to moyles and mills at radio 1, they have people power. All we need to do is get them talking about it.

I was convinced it was by Starecase when I heard the Ad…am very surprised that it’s an exclusive track composed just for the Ad…big business I guess!
