This director of this dramatic advert is Jonathan Glazer who also directed the famous ‘Guinness Surfer’ advert. The infectious tribal funk track by Roc ‘C’ was on the 2006 EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 game soundtrack. It appears on the album ‘All Questions Answered’. The dancers are Argentinean Tango world champion Gasper Godoy and his partner Manuella Rossi.

It is explained in the voice over in the advert at the end. Obviously rap music is known as tough and hard, sung by tough guy rappers so to speak and the tango dance is one of the most beautiful ballroom dances in the world.

Put the 2 of them together and you basically get what the car is tough yet beautiful. Well thats how Volkswagen see it the car anyway.

I think its a brilliant advert bringing 2 extremes together and proving it works.

    dffsdf :

Dr Obvious :Steve – are you utterly stupid – the clue is in the final line – the hip hop and geezer are tough, the girl and their movements together are beautiful – a direct and striking analogy for the qualities of the car. It’s hardly rocket science.

Hahahaha I working advertising and you are talking complete bollacks. The advert itself is very good, but most people well be asking themselves what the hell does this have to do with a VW car, including me.

Can you tell me what advertising company it was – I’d like to completely avoid it if you previously worked there. Steve is spot on and you, my friend, are an illiterate idiot. Marketing my arse!

I might be missing something here, but great skill in the dancing aside, how exactly is rap music and tango dancing connected with advertising a German car?

found the advert it’s always on ITV lately. It wasn’t clarks but it was Deichmann Shoes. I can’t find the song for it. Thank you if you do find it for me.
