Sainsbury’s summer TV advert features the theme from the Monkees, the US sitcom that aired between 1966 and 1968. The Monkees the band were formed for the TV show, but managed to outlive it, largely due to the quality of the songs they were given to perform, written by some of the greatest songwriters of the 60s. (Theme from) the Monkees was written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart.
