Advert: McDonald’s – Little Farmer
Music: John Altman – Jollity Farm (re-record)
McDonald’s says hello to the farmers of tomorrow in this TV ad, promoting the fact that the company sources from 17,500 British and Irish farmers. The ad, from Leo Burnett and Rattling Stick, features a re-record of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band track Jollity Farm (which was itself a cover of a song written by music hall entertainer Leslie Sarony back in the 1920s). The re-record is by John Altman for Jeff Wayne Music. There are various reasons for using re-records – for example because the rights to the original aren’t available, or because the original isn’t a good match for length or tempo. The Jollity Farm re-record isn’t commercially available, but you can download the almost identical-sounding Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band version from iTunes.
