Lynx shifts its marketing down a gear to bring us a relatively subdued TV ad for the new Lynx Black “understated” grooming range. Lynx is known as Axe outside of the UK. The song is a specially commissioned new-folk cover of a rock classic that ends up sounding very much like Bon Iver. The artist is Novo Amor, the trading name of Cardiff musician Ali Lacey. The song is Welcome to the Jungle, originally from Guns N’ Roses, 1987 debut album Appetite for Destruction. Novo Amor’s take on Welcome to the Jungle is available to download from iTunes.

  1. Once I figured out what the music was meant to be a cover of (took me a while because the cover is so far from the original) I was stunned. And not in a good way.

I wasn’t a big fan of the new advert anyway, but now it is like someone is stabbing me in the ears with that terrible version of a classic track.
