Following hot on the heels of the very unusual Freeview “hacked” cat and budgie You Must Conform TV ad, comes this “proper” ad for Freeview Play, featuring an animated girl and dog making a bolt for freedom from subscription TV. The song is I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables, sung here by Sarah Kingsmill and recorded specially for the ad. I Dreamed A Dream has hit the UK charts twice in recent years, first in 2010 as a top 40 hit by Susan Boyle, and then in 2012 as top 30 hit for Anne Hathaway. The latter version was from the latest Les Mis movie adaptation, for which Hathaway for an Oscar. The version from the ad isn’t available to download, but the similar version by Anne Hathaway is available to download on iTunes.

  1. The positively amazing voice of Sarah Kingsmill. She should record our beloved World Cup Anthem which has been totally ruined by Paloma Faith. Her most horrendous rendition has ruined our listening to it and should be sent into oblivion. Please suggest to Sarah what a lovely way to support our rugby team.
