Support Alzheimer’s Research UK

Alzheimer’s Research UK enlist the help of Aardman Animation and Stephen Fry for this impressively ambitious Christmas campaign that can stand shoulder to shoulder with ads from retailers such as John Lewis and Sainsbury’s. In the ad, a little girl named Freya discovers that Christmas isn’t quite as magical as it used to be, as Santa has stopped coming because he is suffering from Alzheimer’s. But Freya believes she can do something to help. The suitably magical piano and music box soundtrack is by Hannah Peel, and was co-written by Hannah and Erland Cooper. The pair work together in the band The Magnetic North, whose latest album is the excellent Prospect of Skelmersdale. Hannah has also recently released a solo album, inspired by experiencing her own grandmother suffering from dementia, called Awake But Always Dreaming. The theme from the ad isn’t currently available to download, but you can watch a making the music video below.
