There are two UK versions of this ad (and several international versions), which show a work of art created using a BMW car as a paintbrush by artist Robin Rhode. The first UK version is an instrumental:
The BMW Marketing Department states that the track was specially written in-house and is untitled. Despite information to the contrary elsewhere, we can confirm that this track was NOT composed by Nico Muhly. This behind the scenes video DOES feature a track by Nico Muhly called Pillaging Music, which can be downloaded via Amazon.
There is also a second UK ad. The track in this ad features vocals:
This track was specially created for the advertisement by the Novo Sonic sound agency in Germany. You can see more about Novo Sonic (in German) and view the ad here. According to the German website Soundlicious, “Thomas Hoffmann aka Leon Rodt acted for the sound agency Novo Sonic as co-writer and co-producer of the music.”
To confuse matters, there is apparently an Australian version of the ad which features the music of Empire of the Sun.
