Music: Manhattan Transfer – Chanson D’amour
Chanson D’Amour (Love Song) was written by Wayne Shanklin in the 1950’s, and was first made popular by two groups – Art and Dotty Todd and The Fontane Sisters – who released simultaneous versions in 1958. The “ratatatata” bit was referenced by The Beatles in the chorus of All You Need Is Love. The Manhattan Transfer version of Chanson D’Amour was released in 1977. It was a number one hit in the UK, but flopped in the band’s native US.
