Vauxhall and ad agency Mother take an unusual approach to car advertising in this TV ad, offering a response to a minor controversy from some time ago in which mums were asked not to wear pyjamas when dropping their kids off at school. The mums in this ad display a confident swagger, designed to reflect the attitude of the Crossland X and potential drivers, although the SUV might end up being narrowly categorised as a school runner for (albeit yummy?) mummies. It’s interesting to compare this ad to the recent VW Tiguan ad featuring a not-very-cool dad making a school run. The Vauxhall ad features a hip-hop track that sounds like it could have been composed specifically for the ad, but it’s actually an existing track – Pajamas All Day by HardNox, a Las Vegas-based duo comprising brothers Dan and Jim Kehoe.
