Saskia got a smart meter so she could save enough energy every day to power her sewing machine non stop, in this TV ad promoting smart meters from Smart Energy GB, “The Campaign for a Smarter Britain”. In this ad, Saskia is saving her energy for personal touches. In another ad (see below) the Petersons are saving energy for a proper pampering – for themselves and their dogs. Both ads feature the same song, a really obscure post-punk electro funk track called Jive Baby on a Saturday Night by The Jellies. Originally released on the band’s own Jelly Record label in 1981, and initially pressed on just 30 vinyl copies, the song was rescued and re-released by Jonny Trunk’s excellent Trunk Records label in 2010.
