TK Maxx is promoting a “find the neverending stocking” contest to win gifts delivered all year round in this year’s Christmas TV ad. After a traditional sleigh bells-and-choir opening, the soundtrack features a quite unusual choice of song. Cuban Pete was written by José Norman in the 1930s and made famous by Desi Arnaz in the 1940s. But the version in the ad is the one performed in the 1994 movie The Mask (see video below) by Jim Carrey – or at least a soundalike re-record. The Mask movie soundtrack is available to buy on CD from Amazon, but isn’t available to download. A very similar soundalike version features on the Heard It in the Movies album by Saturday Night At The Movies and is available to download on Amazon. Neither version is available on iTunes.
