Volkswagen uses everyday things as metaphors for “something bigger than ourselves,” which if we drive, they say, we change the destination. It shows an incredibly big waterfall, then a child turning off a faucet, which is bigger. It then continues with a big candy bar, then a child sharing a small chunk with another child, which is bigger. Then a muscled man doing some lifts, then a small guy helping a mother struggling with a baby cart, an act which is bigger. All these “bigger things” represent VW’s electric future, which is what is being advertised in this video. The music in the advert is “Movin’On Up,” a track from the 1991 album “Screamadelica” by British rock band Primal Scream. It’s available to download on iTunes.
