Animal welfare society Dogs Trust reminds us of their 40-year old slogan “A Dog is for Life, Not Just for Christmas” in this touching advert released for the holidays. In the video, we see a cute wooden dog being given all the love and attention at a Christmas dinner table, supposedly representing all the dogs given as Christmas gifts this year. After the dinner, however, the wooden dog is thrown away with the trash. The scene then shifts to a live dog, this time a real one, found in the dumpster, abandoned just soon after the celebrations. The advert closes with the facade of the foundation. The version of the classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” which we hear in this advert is by the British pop artist Sam Smith, a single he released in 2014.
