John Lewis and Partners continues their tradition of sophisticated Christmas adverts with this short film about a little girl and her friend, a dragon named Edgar. Edgar is pretty excitable. When happy or excited, he can’t help but blow fire, which ruins everything. We see him melting a snowman, melts a skating rink back to its lake state, and then burns their neighbourhood’s new Christmas tree. Eventually, however, the little girl thinks of how to use her friend’s “weakness” for good. To find out what it is, watch the video.
The music in the advert is Bastille’s cover of the classic “Can’t Fight This Feeling” by REO Speedwagon, from the band’s 1984 album “Wheels Are Turnin’.” It’s available to download on iTunes.
