Sainsbury’s takes us back a hundred years to Christmas 1914, with this touching re-imagining of the events surrounding the Christmas Truce, with soldiers playing football and sharing chocolate. The stunning TV ad, from AMV BBDO and Rattling Stick, was made in partnership with The Royal British Legion. The chocolate bar featured in the ad is onsale in Sainsbury’s stores, with all profits going to the Legion. Musically, the ad initially features a choir of soldiers singing Silent Night in English and and German. The second half of the ad then features a piano and orchestral piece, from the movie soundtrack of the 2010 version of True Grit, composed by Carter Burwell. The piece is called The Wicked Flee and, like much of the movie soundtrack, it’s based on the hymn Leaning On The Everlasting Arms. You can download The Wicked Flee from iTunes.

wonderful ad, but why have you not attributed the soundtrack, fully, pointing out that the track is “leaning on the everlasting arms”?
