#4
Advert: ARGOS – LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING
Music: CHUCK BERRY – RUN RUN RUDOLPH

A horde of shoppers descend on a petrol station in a last-minute scramble for Christmas presents. Disappointed relatives receive de-icer and wheel trims. Still, on balance, better than battling through pushchair-wielding chavs in Argos, mind you.

Advert: ASDA – WHY PAY MORE THIS CHRISTMAS?
Music: PERRY COMO – IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

Sound familiar? Argos used the very same Perry Como version of It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas for a blanket ad campaign just 12 months ago. Clearly whichever highly-paid creative came up with this ASDA ad spent last Christmas with his fingers in his ears. Good tune, though.

Advert: LITTLEWOODS DIRECT – COSMIC CHRISTMAS
Music: MAMA CASS ELLIOTT (THE MAMAS AND THE PAPAS) – DREAM A LITTLE DREAM OF ME

Alien-looking models and an alien-looking alien peruse some Christmas gifts on a Star Trek set. Actually, the ad was shot in Iceland, as the “making of” video above shows. You can download the ad and the Mamas and Papas track for free at the Littlewoods Direct website.

#10
Advert: ARGOS – LESS FUSS, CHRISTMAS
Music: MC HAMMER – U CAN’T TOUCH THIS

Ridiculously baggy tracksuit bottoms, lots of jewellry and chevrons shaved into hair? All present and correct. Christmas cheer? Absent. A very odd choice for a Christmas ad. Go to the bottom of our list, Argos.
